 Volunteer

Our volunteers are wonderful and help our programs run smoothly!

We host volunteers who come on a regular basis as well as groups that come to help with special projects around the farm.

Volunteering:

Volunteers help get horses ready for sessions by grooming and tacking them. During sessions, volunteers lead the horses and are side walkers for clients. A side walker walks alongside the clients as they ride and provides support. More independent clients may need someone to just walk alongside them. Clients that need more support may require a side walker to have their hand on their knee or provide back support. Volunteers often become a great source of encouragement for clients as well! After sessions, volunteers help cool down horses and put away tack. If you do not have horse experience, we will be happy to teach you about grooming, tacking, and leading! Volunteering with Hope Therapy goes beyond assisting with client sessions. As a farm with nine working horses, there is a great deal of work that happens behind the scenes. Special projects or fundraising events, gardening, facility repairs, and tack care are just a few of the many opportunities available.

NEW VOLUNTEER TRAINING BY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT ONLY - PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW TO BEGIN

Volunteering as a group:

We have had schools, scout troops, church groups, etc. come out to do projects. Some of these projects are clean-up, some are beautification, some are building, and some are educational. If you have a group interested in coming out to the farm, please click on the “Contact” tab and fill out the information so we can connect. We would love to hear from you!

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.

To reserve your spot for the training, please fill out the brief questionnaire below. It will help us learn more about your background, your experience with horses, and why you’re excited to volunteer with us. This questionnaire requests some preliminary information and some general questions about your horse experience and your volunteer interest. Once we have your digital questionnaire completed, please print and bring the signed registration and release form with you to the training. We look forward to you becoming part of the herd!

Sessions take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Times vary throughout the year, based on the weather.
